Talking about my upcoming trip to Melbourne and the food places that had made it on to my hit list, a friend mentioned there were some pretty tasty crepes to be found in one of Melbourne’s laneways. I was all ears.

Making crepes
Yeti – ice cream, fresh banana, chocolate ($9.00).
The problem was always going to be deciding what filling/topping to get. I’m always indecisive and when it comes to eating dessert for lunch the pressure of the decision making process got to me. After much deliberation I finally settled on the Yeti – ice cream for lunch sounded promising.
The crepe itself was thin and crisp at the edge with a slight fluffiness that I do love very much. But I made a mistake. The ice cream sucked me in and I didn’t consider the chocolate factor. That fake, bitter, dark gooey stuff. The crepe was good but the chocolate held it back. Next time I’ll need to order Nutella or caramel and avoid the ‘chocolate’ altogether.

Forestière – Béchamel, bacon, mushroom and Emmental cheese ($10.00).
Dylan wasn’t as keen on dessert for lunch so he opted for a savoury crepe. From Roule Galette’s ‘We Recommend’ list he chose the classic bacon, mushroom cheese and white sauce crepe. Sweets always pull me in their direction but I have to admit Dylan’s choice was pretty damn tasty even though it looked rather plain on the outer.

Next time I’m in Melbourne I’ll be heading back to Roule Galette to try something else and see if I can be momentarily transported to Paris.
