The Famous Berry Donut Van
I’ve wanted to stop at The Famous Berry Donut Van for a very long time. But every time we’ve been through Berry we’ve either just finished a meal or are on our way to eat somewhere… or I just haven’t been able to convince Dylan to stop.
Well, all of that changed when we had a family breakfast at berry sourdough cafe. I was adamant this was my chance to try these famous donuts. So after many years of talking about it I finally did it. And everyone else was hot on my heels as I wandered down the street on my mission for hot cinnamon donuts.
Donuts ($14.00 for 12).
It was a no brainer to buy a dozen. There were six of us after all. You order at the window of the van and are given a number for your order, then the waiting game begins. Fortunately for us The Famous Berry Donut Van installed a new fryer late last year with double the capacity of their old one. Those infamous hour long waits are no more.
Only five minutes later our donuts were ready. Scooped up from the deep fryer with a metal donut stick (I’m sure that’s the technical name for it!) and dropped straight into a mountain of cinnamon sugar, before being scooped up once more and packaged into paper bags. I was salivating from the scent of them.

Donuts
Yes I may have just finished a generously portioned mushie on sourdough brekkie but nothing was going to get between me and fresh hot cinnamon donuts. Kyle, Kieran, Vesna and I all demolished our first donut in nanoseconds. Only Dylan and my Mum (those with no sweet tooth!) wanted to wait a little while.
Beautifully fluffy and just cooked in the centre with just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. If you’re looking for a mighty fine hot cinnamon donut then this is a prime specimen. But at the end of the day if you’re not much of a donut fan (aka Dylan) then they’re not going to convert you or make you want to stop during your next journey through town.

Fluffy!

Hey, I do love them but we’d only just finished breakfast 😐
We’ve got friends who live down the coast that we visit quite regularly, and Berry is a convenient halfway stop between us and them. I’ve lost count how many times we’ve stopped for donuts and coffee! I never get tired of them, they’re as good every time as the first day we tried them.
This makes me rather jealous, Caro!
these are so tasty! so good!
Yes, yes they are 🙂
